Brief Overview of Malingering Assessment – Detection of Feigned Mental Illness and Clinical Setting Considerations

Tamar M. Kenworthy, Psy.D.


Objective:  Participants will gain knowledge of some available assessments in the detection of feigned mental illness and malingering.  Participants will also learn basic techniques for interviewing and detecting potential feigning in clientele.


Presented by Tamar Kenworthy, Psy.D.  Dr. Kenworthy is a Licensed Psychologist and Program Director of the PhD/PsyD Programs at Alliant International University, Fresno.  She also supervises the Assessment rotation through the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office conducting evaluations for juveniles and adults, many of whom are being considered for Fresno County Behavioral Health Court.  Dr. Kenworthy also performs Mentallly Disordered Offender evaluations for the California Department of Corrections.
